If man was meant to fly he would have been given wings, the bird thinks to himself as he flies under and around the man with the big umbrella.

Daily, people and birds share the airspace over the cliffs of Lima, Peru where the city meets the Pacific.

Because of the cliffs and the highway, it is not easy to reach the ocean from the city, but the residents of Lima have found a way, because it seems, as humans we are drawn to the power of the waves, the sound, the sheer size of the ocean. The ocean has an irresistible pull. We are not sure what instinct we are responding to when we stand on the beach and look to the horizon, but we feel we have no choice when presented with the opportunity.

The flying humans of Lima are not pulled toward launch by boats and released. They simply run and jump off the cliffs using the wind currents along the rocky coastline to fly up and back all day - returning to land where they started as the birds glide by in amusement.
