Street Market - Santiago
When traveling to a new country for the first time you never know what kind of cultural peculiarities you may encounter.
As I approached the main square in Santiago, Chile I could hear the pounding of drums and suspected I was coming upon a political protest, but as I rounded a corner into a long street market I discovered this group of men dancing in circles with drums tied to the backs. You may notice that there are symbols on top of the drums that the men operate by means of a leather strap tied to one shoe.
They dance and play for tips. In the background you can see a boy wearing a blue vest. He was the talented apprentice at this performance.
