Atacama Desert

My primary motivation for traveling to South America was to see the Andes Mountains, the southern Pacific and Patagonia.

My first stop in Chile was the Atacama Desert in the northern part of the country near the border with Peru and Bolivia. It is 41,000 square miles of dramatic arid landscape.
