Darjeeling

Darjeeling is in the northeast corner of India near the Nepali border. Indeed the people there seem to have more in common with the people of Nepal than the people of their own country. Both in their appearance and their manner.

The town and the region are also known for tea production. There are acres of tea estates on the hillsides and in the flat lands just before the ascent toward Darjeeling begins. The views are spectacular. Unfortunately, during my three day visit, the hills were mostly shrouded in fog, but the landscape still painted an interesting picture.
