Heavy Load

I witnessed this scene across India, but especially in Darjeeling where the hills make the hauling even more difficult.

I do not know why this is the preferred method of carrying heavy loads, but it is. Perhaps it is tradition, perhaps it’s because using a wheeled vehicle on the hills of this town is more difficult than a straight carry that relies on your back, neck and forehead.
