While I was in India the nation’s Supreme Court issued a ruling ordering the local, provincial and national governments to take immediate action to address air pollution in Delhi and throughout the country. This is more like a strong rebuke of government at all levels rather than a court order with the force we associate with Supreme Court rulings.

Nevertheless it shows that the issue of air pollution in India (and Delhi in particular) is a serious matter with public health consequences that are playing out right now. Here is my look at the issue.
