Three Women

Durbar Square in Kathmandu was filled with school children and families that morning.

On the perimeter three women stood watch. One from the perspective of wisdom, one from a position of authority and one representing the future of Nepal.

They were staggered in a three pointed generational relay. The older woman receding to the background. The younger woman taking her place out front in the prime of her life. A little girl mounted on a mythical beast ready to step forward when it is her turn.

The older woman placed her hand on her belly drawing on the wisdom of experience. The woman in uniform presented a combination of strength and beauty to the world. The young girl, dressed according to tradition, watched and learned in barefooted innocence.
