Beagle Channel

DSC02011.jpg

On a windy and overcast day in early January I sailed through the Beagle Channel near the southernmost tip of South America.

The channel is named after the ship that first carried Charles Darwin through the region. The Beagle Channel is one of three primary routes across the bottom of the continent linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It allows mariners to be somewhat protected from the open sea further to the south.
