Winter In Detail

With the end of the year in sight, I am returning to where 2022 began for me. At the beach, in winter.

The first series of photo essays I produced this year were centered on wintertime visits to the summer islands of Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.

In the cold months the islands are mostly yours. The year-rounders welcome you, but with a questioning look. Are you lost? Did you take a wrong turn at Provincetown or Hyannis?

I did not. It was a deliberate choice to be there. To see things in their natural state.

Nature undisturbed, except by nature itself.
