Shimmering Blue
I had another vision in mind when I arrived at the beach at high tide. Big waves, crashing on shore. A pipeline you could crawl through.
But at this time of year high tide doesn’t always present that way. At times, the ocean just swells toward the beach, engulfing it rather than pounding it into submission.
But the sun is low and it reflects off the swells with a brightness too bright in some places to look at directly.
The sand reflects like diamond. The water is a deeper blue. The foam a pure white.
When the tide rushes out it leaves a carving of small channels in the sand and shallow pools of the blackest blue.
