Memphis

I stood at the site of the location of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 5, 2021.

On that same day, Georgia voters were electing the pastor of King’s church, in Atlanta, to serve in the U.S. Senate. The next day, rioters would attack the U.S. Capitol, some carrying Confederate flags. And a few months later, the Georgia legislature passed a law in an effort to reduce the power of Black voters. A few weeks after that, Major League Baseball moved its All-Star game from Atlanta in protest.

There is still work to do.
