A Place to Rest

There was a time when this old motel would have been a welcome sight for travelers puttering across the west on two lane highways like Route 66.

This one, in Oklahoma, is preserved as a memory of that way of life. A place to stop, get out of your car with no air conditioning, roll up the windows for the night, take a shower and rest before resuming the long drive to Arizona?, Texas?, Mexico?, California?, in the morning.

There is not much to see out here, but the roof over the front porch would have provided a shady place for some fresh air and a cigarette.
