Rural America
In the vast space between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, much of the state of Pennsylvania is wild, rural, or given over to agriculture.
Here two lane blacktop roads twist and turn up and over small hills and deep valleys. Here and there you will pass a homestead or barn. A lone tree stands unprotected from the cold through the winter. An old tractor sits waiting to be fired up in a field. An almost empty school bus rumbles down the road and stops to let off one child in front of a house whose nearest neighbor is hidden by the terrain.
This America is far from the conveniences of the cities and the suburbs. It can be hard and lonely, but there is beauty in the simplicity and for some it is worth the struggle.
