Unity, New Hampshire is a small town of a few thousand people, but its name and location in one of the most politically important states in the country invites metaphor.

As Joe Biden prepares to assume the presidency next week, one of his top priorities is to bring a divided nation together. Based on his career in Washington, his personality, and his relationships; if there is one political leader in the country made for this moment, it may be Biden.

In 2008, when Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race, making way for then Senator Obama, their first joint rally was in Unity. The choice was meant to be symbolic. It’s likely President Biden will feel compelled to give many speeches, in the coming months, about working together and putting differences aside.
