Spice Market

This small alley feeds into the main road of the spice market in Old Delhi.

It is darkened by tall buildings that lean in toward the center. A few steps away the alley opens into the sunshine and chaos of the full market.

The scene has been the same for hundreds of years. Only the human characters have changed. The most efficient ways to move goods is to carry them on your head or pull them on a cart.

Every square inch of space is used to display merchandise. Electric wires form a charged net over head. It is as if each outlet and switch in the city has its own wire.

It all works. It is known that there are better ways to do things, but who has the energy to change? There is work to do. Things to sell. Money to be made. It is best to keep moving.
