When visiting Machu Picchu most people are focused on looking down from the hills at the ruins of the citadel, but don’t forget to look up and around.

You are high in the Andes Mountains and you are surrounded by peaks so tall they touch the clouds.

People often ask why the Incas built such a fantastic city in a place so hard to reach? First of all, it wasn’t hard to reach for them. It’s just where they lived and they probably didn’t think much about it. Second, it is believed the Incas found an excellent water source in this location.
